..Sorry for the Delay!

One of the largest reasons I have not been able to update as frequently as I would like is due to my new job! As of about a month ago, I was hired by Northside Coffee and Kitchen as a barista and serve gourmet coffee and tea to customers! What a shift in my life!

When I was living in South Carolina, I knew that I needed to find a job and began to think of how I would acquire one! I was determined to find something perfect and I never thought it would be a barista! Especially since I am more on the “raw” side of things, I couldn’t picture myself serving coffees for a living. However, upon starting, I realized, it was a wonderful job!

I am so grateful to have found this position, only because I have always wanted to open a cafe! I now am fully capable of pouring many different coffee drinks, teas, etc. I’m not the biggest coffee drinker, however, I will enjoy an occasional chai and/or other drink – it’s all about keeping the bodies pH in line. I feel that, if I consume a large amount of water every morning, it assists with the coffees natural acidity levels. Anyways, I plan to start writing more articles and keeping them coming at frequent interals! I appreciate all of your guys’ support and hope I can continue to keep you guys reading!

If I could send one piece of information to my followers, that has truly changed my life, that has enabled me to travel and convert my dreams into reality, I would say, “Stop thinking about what you want in your life and START LIVING IT!” Always dream. Always pursue. NEVER quit. You possess the ability to create your own reality. YOU are the one who controls your success. Happy manifesting! :-)

ColoRAWdo

Welcome, ahimsRAW fans!

Sorry for the long delay! I have been extremely busy since I moved to Colorado, Feb. 7th. I’d like to begin the passage by commenting on the natural beauty of the mountainous region. I am definitely a sucker for mountains – Bali and Colorado have indeed caught my attention. Bali and Colorado share mountainous terrain, blissful locals and loads of outdoor fun, however, Colorado lacks the abundance of tropical fruits and vegetation native to “the island of the Gods.”

Since moving to Colorado, I have visited a multitude of grocery stores and markets, actually finding a wonderful market nearby! It’s titled City Market and, to my surprise, boasts an extraordinary selection of Organic produce: papaya! coconuts! apples! bananas! Dates! Avocados! and virtually anything to sustain a high raw vegan diet. Also, to my advantage, the produce is not extremely pricey as I would have guessed, since it has to be shipped and hauled to 8,000 feet altitude. Due to it’s geographical location, Colorado receives produce from California, to the west and Mexico to the south.

Another article will soon be released! I will be covering my new job and why I have been so busy, as of lately! I apologize and promise that articles will be more frequent, as well as photographs.

Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate ANY and ALL feedback!

Salad Salutation & Food-Mood Correlation

Lately, I literally cannot eat enough salad! I was scrummaging throughout my grandparents house trying to find a large enough bowl to fit my super salad and it was a struggle. I finally came across a decent size glass bowl!

Super Salad!
I feel as if my body is truly beginning to cleanse and BEG for healthy, fresh green vegetables, which is a change for me. When I first began transitioning into a “raw diet,” I never craved greens, or really enjoyed them, to be honest, they were the hardest food to get down and that was when I was a dreadful, angst-ridden vegetarian. I literally, at times, had to force them down, but I knew that my body was rejecting the greens because I was out-of-balance. As time progressed and ESPECIALLY after my trip to Bali, experiencing a 100% raw diet, for the most part, really helped my body determine what it needed to feel in the groove of things and comfortable.

Now I feel like I am some type of elephant, eating my body weight in greens everyday! (sometimes I like to put things into perspective, for instance, “I think I just ate more salad than my entire family at christmas HAHA) I love them in smoothies, salads, my body just craves the color – it puts me at ease and feelin’ irie. I have came to the conclusion that, the more people enjoy their greens, the more in-tune they are with their bodies and atmosphere. I know that statement may really upset some people who HATE veggies and greens, but I’m not judging, I know, for myself, that I feel 100x better after I have a green smoothie, or large salad, now that I have paid attention to how food reacts with mood.

This article is not supposed to upset ANYONE, but only inspire! :) The best part is knowing that health is a holistic progression and you can start from anywhere and move forward to wellness. I myself, have been hospitalized, as stated in AHIMSRAW: The Beginning, and am now here: smiling, listening to some reggae and writing an article to help other individuals who have experienced similar illness, angst or depression. The key is KNOWING you can heal yourself through food and thought. I wish you all the best! and have a wonderful day! :) Smile on

I will post a new salad recipe shortly! and I can tell you, it’s absolutely delicious! Love you all. <3

Starting the Day With A Blender-Full!

I like to begin most days with a solid liquid breakfast.

Upon waking, I either drink a few cups of tea or water and then follow it with a smoothie.
I do this for a few reasons.

  1. I feel WAY more energetic
  2. It’s a nice way to cleanse and give your stomach a break from heavier food
  3. You’re able to attain most of your  nutrients and then “snack” the rest of the day

Here’s an example of a “blender-full” of healthy foods that I began my day with today.

That's how you pack a blender!

Ingredients:

  • Wild Greens (2 huge handfuls)
  • Wild Berries (about a handful)
  • Oranges
  • Flax Seed Powder (about 2 Tblsp)
  • 2 scoops vegan chocolate powder (contains superfoods, proteins, etc.)
  • about a cup of acai juice

This is one of the quickest way to get energy in the morning, since the nutrients are in a liquid form and easily absorbed! Enjoy and continue cleansing and healing!

Ginger Juice! Soul Included..

I have been cleansing today and have drank a lot of herbal tea and water and decided to have a delicious, fresh juice!

RAW JUICE

Gingers DO have souls

I decided to mix a few ingredients and included:

  • 2 oranges
  • 1 apple
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 3 carrots
  • 1″ of ginger

I named it the GINGER SOUL! No offense to anyone with red hair, I know how much you’ve been through in your lives with the jokes, but come on…a little laughter is alright. I know you all have souls! :D

Here’s a great video to accompany the juice and I hope it doesn’t offend anyone! Have a great day and keep cleansing and juicing!

Exotic Fruit Salad and Superfoods!

Do you ever get tired of apples? Oranges? The same old fruits? WELL, go out and experiment! Shop at your local asian markets, or possibly whole foods and try some delicious exotic fruits! Maybe like Durian! The King of Fruits, or papaya! I just picked up the most delicious maradol papaya and I literally felt STONED after eating it. I just had a wave of bliss come over me, as cheesy as that sounds, I have no reason to lie… It was the most delicious piece of fruit I’ve had in a while!

So, I decided to create a small fruit salad and top it with some super foods, since I felt like a nice cleanse today. I chose to eat two gigantic salads earlier and am now engaging in this delicious fruit bowl!

Papaya!

Delicious and easy fruit salad + super foods!

It’s truly so easy to make, I just cut up a maradol papaya, some pineapple, a kiwi, banana and topped with peruvian maca, hemp seeds, goji berries and RAW CACAO! I couldn’t have asked for a better snack and it truly took about 5 minutes to make. I must say, it’s absolutely delicious, but I love fruit more than anything. I hope you guys are inspired and make something similar yourselves!

By the way, lately, I’ve found it extremely interesting, how much better I feel when I prepare my food with love. I know it may sound hippie, or “new-age,” but try it…be mindful of where your ingredients are coming, of how you’re supporting the earth when eating delicious, organic and fresh nutrients and observe how your body reacts afterwards. It’s an amazing adventure learning about the universe and how we’re all interconnected. Consciousness is within us all and I truly believe you become elevated upon intaking healthy foods such as fruits and veg. Have a WONDERFUL day and thank you for reading.

Raw Exotic Fruit Porridge!

Here’s a favorite breakfast treat of mine! Feel free to check it out! Ingredients: soaked steel cut oats, pineapple, kiwi, bananas and hemp seeds!

Just simply soak oats overnight, cut fruit and top with hemp seeds! ENJOY.

Delicious!

Gazpacho!

Delicious and quick!

Made from ingredients that were about to be thrown away! Recycling is a HUGE part of the raw diet and is vital in creating a healthier environment.

I was able to create this meal in under 10 minutes, too! Simply by using tomatoes, peppers, onions, cucumbers and topped with alfalfa sprouts and chopped jalapeños to stay warm through the winter!
